Chae Soo-hong et al.: History and Politics of Socialist Vietnam

Analyzing the reality of Vietnam’s socialism, a work that clearly recognizes the purpose of Asian socialism, unity of the Korean peninsula, and North Korean understanding gives a full awareness of its experience. North Korea's reform opening and interest in Korean peace have been aroused, and the Vietnam Way has been reversed. Vietnam, which is a “success” of keeping the socialist system open, is showing North Korea what the future should be. But we don't really know what history has led to the opening of reforms. The light and shadow left behind by the reformation of Vietnam is not enough. So to say "the Vietnamese Way" we need to understand Vietnam's political economy, foreign relations and culture as being in time past, present and future. Only then will the experience of Vietnam be available to North Korea and be considered as a desirable subject. This book began with such a problem-consciousness.
