The short story collection *The Cinnamon Shops*, published in 1943, is a dreamlike and entertaining collection primarily consisting of memories of a father told from a boy's first-person perspective. *The Hourglass Sanatorium* mixes short and medium-length stories, offering a glimpse into the author's deepened psyche. However, through the figure of the father who permeates the entire work, it speaks of surrealism and myth. Furthermore, Bruno Schulz, who was a painter before he was a writer, depicted landscapes and scenes like paintings without a distinct plot.
