A third-grade construction studio at the University of National Busan, Korea, and a third-year architecture studio at Syracuse, U.S.A., have been working on a joint research project that deals with this problem for a semester. The subject of the study was “The Intensive Series of Central State Buildings,” which says:“The Series - Use: M. R. M. U). This research has been used to explore many architectural ways to create dense, healthy, active urbanism. The students chose teams of active city blocks in two vibrant cities with the unique urban style of Busan and Los Angeles. The housing blocks of the two cities are having difficulty reducing urban environments due to low-utilized street space and excessive vehicle use. The congestion of the unmanaged Nantian cities (usually in fast-growing Asian cities) suggests a distinct urban difference in relation to L.A.'s inefficient spread (usually the majority of cities in the United States) but both share common problems of relying on vehicles and creating isolated communities. The study explores the different urban possibilities that a highly designed multi-masked multi-cultural architecture can make for both cities. Based on the research and analysis that was done early in the research process, students chose a central scale plot within each block to design the housing complex. The overall design process has developed around changing complex social problems and interpreting the suggested space quality of the site from various perspectives.
