Description

This is not just another diet or exercise book. It is an honest account of author Baek Jeong-si’s path to losing weight to survive after excess weight brought chronic knee problems and other illnesses. The author initially weighed 83 kg. The weight burdened the body, and warning signs appeared, especially in the knees. The knee problem kept the author at home; staying in deepened depression and wore down the spirit. The world looked gray and the will to live diminished, so dieting became necessary for survival, not a choice. Daily life changed, but the author did not rush or follow a theory or advice—just responded at a pace the body wanted. Losing 18 kg over 18 months, 1 kg a month, the ‘miracle diet that tricks the yo-yo’ began to work. The knees healed completely, stomach ulcers disappeared, and depression lifted. Losing about 33 g a day meant the body did not notice the change, nor the yo-yo effect. With confidence, the author tried a triathlon. Its most important qualities, mental toughness and endurance, also benefited everyday life. Things once given up on easily are now rarely abandoned early.

I’ve failed at dieting repeatedly, and finally read the book I’d promised myself I’d use to prepare better this time. The older I get, the more care I need. I start each New Year and quit midway, also using my bad knees as an excuse. That’s why I related to the author’s opening about dieting with knee pain, including how gradual weight loss differs depending on the pain. I walk aiming for 10,000 steps, and realized a diet calendar could help more. The book also discusses food and brown rice.

The author’s excess weight caused illnesses, making dieting essential; they lost 18 kg without regain, recovered from chronic ailments, and became close to exercise. Those results make the ‘miracle’ title no exaggeration. How did they avoid regain? Chapter 1 presents a personalized approach: lose 1 kg a month slowly and steadily, build habits, plan, and keep a calendar for sustainability. Chapter 2 covers the author’s food approach and personal Ten Commandments, combining diet with exercise and

The Miracle Diet That Tricks the Yo-Yo, Baek Jeong-si / Soyeon. The author says dieting brought three things: losing 18 kg without being bound by regain, becoming close friends with exercise, and recovering from chronic illnesses. This is the author’s account of losing 18 kg—from 83 to 65 kg—in 18 months, intended to encourage people still struggling. Chapters: 1, ‘Diet: Trick the Yo-Yo’; 2, ‘Food Diet: Eat Properly to Lose’; 3, ‘Exercise Diet: Complete It with Exercise’; 4, ‘Anyone Can Do a

Most people have tried dieting. When children are young, people say they only want them to eat well and grow healthy. As adults, neglecting weight management can lead to a fight with fat appearing everywhere. In our convenient modern world, people move less and eat high-calorie and instant food; obesity becomes chronic. With this struggle, success is uncertain. The title drew me in. The author too went through an extremely hard time overweight. A rule of thumb says normal weight is height minus

There are countless diets, but finding one that suits me is hard. Quick weight loss is often followed by the yo-yo effect, making the effort feel pointless. The author says they lost 18 kg while overweight over 18 months—1 kg a month, very gradually—and has maintained the loss. I was more curious about how the author ran, swam, and cycled. My husband and I recently started running and swimming, so I focused on how to do them healthfully. I also cared more about exercise for healthy living than

My leg pain worsened over the weekend, so I went to the hospital early Monday. My usual hospital had not helped much, so I visited another. The doctor kindly explained the cause. It was not new, but I felt I had a direction. The conclusion was that losing weight was the only way to eliminate the leg pain. Since my diet is for health, not appearance, I feel more desperate. I liked the story in The Miracle Diet That Tricks the Yo-Yo about the author’s illnesses from excess weight. The account of

Dieting really is a lifelong challenge. We start when things get serious, but keeping it up is hard, and regain makes weight rise and fall. This book renewed my resolve about outsmarting the yo-yo effect, food-based dieting, and exercise. It presents plans for slow, moderate, and fast weight loss. Losing 18 kg sounds like a dream. Tracking habits matters; a diet calendar lets you see your changes. Enjoy brown rice for at least one meal a day, and always check meal calories. Walk 10,000 steps

The Miracle Diet That Tricks the Yo-Yo. As summer nears, diet books flood the market, many with strange attention-grabbing titles. I’m a woman who has dieted all my life, rarely succeeding; often regain returned me to the start. I think I’ve read most diet books and stopped believing them, perhaps because I hadn’t succeeded myself. I stopped reading them for years. What drew me to this one was its description: people want quick, dramatic results, but the body notices such change and tries to

Knowing from experience that dieting is hard, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t envious of the author, who lost 1 kg monthly for 18 months and maintains 65 kg without regain. Most dieters have had their work undone by the yo-yo effect. The joy of success through diet and exercise is brief before overeating or neglecting exercise returns the body to its starting point, leaving a hard time wondering what went wrong. We diet not to impress someone but because we want a healthy life. Excess weight
