Baek Eun-ha et al.: Next Actor Go Min-si

The sixth book in the Next Actor series, a next-generation actor project jointly conceived by Korea’s first research institute specializing in actors, the Baek Eun-ha Actor Research Institute, and the Muju Film Festival, follows Next Actor Park Jung-min, Next Actor Go Ah-sung, Next Actor Ahn Jae-hong, Next Actor Jeon Yeo-been, and Next Actor Byun Yo-han. Next Actor Go Min-si brings together a complete record of an actor who turned her potential as a rising star into confidence, from co-directing and acting in the 2016 short film Parallel Novel to the 2023 film Smugglers, the series Youth of May, and Netflix’s Sweet Home. Go Min-si documents in handwritten essays her acting notes and the process of engaging with works and characters. The book also includes candid, extensive interviews about her life from childhood to becoming an actor, as well as her present and future. Colleagues who worked with her share their accounts, too. Director Lee Eung-bok of Sweet Home, director Ryoo Seung-wan and actor Park Jung-min of Smugglers, and director Han Jun-hee of the S24 Hours Movie Series speak frankly and warmly about their first impressions of Go Min-si and the time they spent together, making this a book readers will want to keep. Baek Eun-ha, who runs the country’s first research institute specializing in actors, analyzes six of Go Min-si’s signature characters: Do Myeong-hee in The Witch, Im Yu-ri in The Smile Has Left Your Eyes, Lee Hyun-ji in Secret Boutique, Lee Eun-yu in Sweet Home, Kim Myeong-hee in Youth of May, and Go Ok-bun in Smugglers. She also offers expert interpretation through analyses of Go Min-si’s acting achievements and several scenes.
