"The Great Chain of Existence" is a classic for casualties researchers. Lovejoy's history is characterized by ideas that are more focused on the history of ideas than on the fact that they are ordinary ideas, especially on the historical development of unit ideas. From the late past until the end of the eighteenth century, most philosophers and scientists, and indeed most educated people, accepted without question traditional ideas about design and structure for the world. In this 1933 lecture on William James, Arthur O. Lovejoy points to three principles that are combined with this concept: fulness, continuous and gradual performance. And from the philosophy of Plato, Aristotle, Neoplatonists, they analyze their origins.
