I was uncomfortable all along reading violence, helplessness. But the hero's unquestioned, obvious will led me to the last sentence. 'I wasn't afraid. I wasn't weak. I held my pain at fifteen years of age an' self-will and growing process which cannot be admired. A girl's intense but obvious story of growth, which gives her courage to embrace pain in the face of grown-ups.
